The Banks intercooler is OK, everything else for Fords is junk. I prefer to support the companies who support us and to say the least, Banks does not support us...... That's all I will say on the Banks subject. If you want to run his stuff, great. Just know that he is not out there trying to further the performance of our trucks.

Personally, I put together my own stuff and am using a DI Performance intercooler for an SD 7.3 in it. AWESOME intercooler. I understand that some people don't have the means to modify their own pipes or IC mounts to get this job done, but IIRC somone makes pre-fabbed pipes to fit with an SD 7.3 IC in our trucks.

If nothing else, just buy the IC kit and get your chip and everything else separately so you can use some better parts.. I wouldn't run any tuning from Edge on your truck. Just a good 6 position from one of the many great 7.3L tuners out there. PHP, Tony Wildman, Gearhead, Swamps, etc.

Ok....downpipe and gauges are a must. EGT and Trans temp are but if I am not going crazy power is the boost gauge really necessay? 6 position chip is a good thing too. How does one install the 6 position chip? Also is a EGT gauge that goes to 1500 deg ok or do I need to go to a 2200 deg one? Trans temp gauge need to go to what temp?

Boost gauge is mostly for informational purposes. It can come in real handly, once I was coming home thru the Rockies and my EGT gauge stopped working. So, I went by my boost gauge, guessing what my EGT's were. There is a write up on chip install in the stickies IIRC. Don't scrub the contacts to much. 1500 on EGT gauge is plenty, if your over 1250 you should back out of it anyway. Trans temp up to at least 250 because you should slow down if it gets that high.

I'm typing from my phone, so I can't see sigs.

I just wanted to add that if you have an auto, go ahead and get boost, pyro, and trans temp.

If you have a manual, get boost and pyro to start with.. later on if u want more information, add as needed.

Boost gauges are good to have in order to know how your engine is running...

All great info...Thnx. So it is as follows, downpipe and gauges first. 6 position chip and see how she runs. Then as $$ dictates a intercooler last.
Thnx for all the info, this place is a wealth of knowledge like no other!!
