headache

I have a 95 and have one problem after another. Truck has been running poorly.I replaced the o2 sensor about 3 weeks ago that helped performance for a few days. Parked truck at work. Returned would not start. Ended up replacing fuel pump (dead). Replaced dist. ran great for a week. Now the truck bucks, kicks and dies if the foot is not on the accelerator. Surges when throttle is at a constant pressure. Have to massage the accelerator to keep the truck under control. It dies at stops or slow movement. Kicks/ vibrates hard and/or dies in reverse. Not sure if it is the IAC or the EGR I have no engine codes. Not sure where to start... Please help... and thanx...

We will also need to know what engine you have, how many miles it has, and any modifications you have made to it, such as a programmer or some such.

First thing I am suspecting is a vacuum leak.

You could take a can of starting fluid and spray it around your vacuum lines while the truck is running. If it revs all on its own,you have narrowed down the area in which to look for a vacuum leak.

Thanx Ben, I had no luck with finding any vacuum leaks. The truck sounds like its out of time when foot is on the accelerator. I'd tried retarding and advancing the timing made no difference. If I spoon feed the accelerator I can avoid the pinging and jerking. Not sure where to go next...

Triple check that you routed the plug wires correctly. I once had similar issues when I had two wires switched. Probably is not what is ailing your truck, since you said it ran fine for a bit. Perhaps your truck has jumped its timing.

Someone else will chime in soon, I bet.

Thanx Ben, I just move the cap (new) so I have the correct firing order. I tried seafoam to see if it would help... It didn't... I did replace the cap, rotor and spark plugs a few weeks ago.

Replaced fuel regulator about six weeks ago and the gas spurts out the schrader valve. Don't have a fuel pressure tester to verify.

In a pinch, you can use a tire pressure gauge to check fuel pressure.

Here may be some help on your IAC...

Here may be some help on your EGR...

And I thought this is a good idea for finding a vacuum leak...

Thanx Ben I liked the videos. Tried the smoke trick and the smoke came out the fresh air intake. It turned out the EGR was bad... replaced it. The truck was running rough before and afterwards. Today it died going into work Had no spark, tested the icm... tested ok. replaced coil... made no difference. tomorrow I'll test the PIP module even though the distributor was replaced about two weeks ago (rebuilt) The truck has no engine codes. Any thoughts anybody.
Thanx
