I'm thinking about test driving an 03, 7.3, with an auto trans. Which trans did they come with? If its the 4R100, what do I need to look and listen for while driving? I searched and found the 4R100 had some issues, but I will be using the truck for mainly daily driving and towing 5500lbs. about 7 or 8 times a year. Any thoughts and replies would be appreciated. Thanks!
It is a 4R100. By 2003 they had the issues pretty well worked out of them.
With the issues worked out is it pretty much as good a s the torqueshift? I know thats a general question, and Ford would not have introduced he torque shift if they didn't see it as an improvement, but I'm just wondering if I would do better to pass on pre 2005. I'm looking for v10 utility bed and they are as hard to find as a needle in a haystack.
Thanks for the fast replies. I am really stuck on what to do. I really, really like my current truck, 03, V10, 6-spd. It does everything I need it to do. Only reason I'm shopping is because of the poor fuel economy. I'm just affraid of getting a lemon and wishing I would have kept the V10 with the stick.
