I have an ABS code coming up every once in a while on my RABS 1 system. I understand that when I turn off the key the code is gone so I am trying to figure out how to pull the code when the ABS light comes on.
I looked on this forum and also in my Haynes manual about how to get the codes, it's pretty clear how to count the flashes. What I can't seem to find is the wire I connect to ground in order to read the codes.
The picture in the Haynes manual wasn't too clear and the thread I saw here was different than mine apparently.
Also, if the ABS light isn't on (meaning everything is OK), will any code come up? Since I don't have any codes to pull now, this would be verification I found the right wire.
Look under the glove box for a single wire connector.
OK, found blk/org. When I connect that to ground I don't get anything. Does there need to be a code to pull or will a generic code come through if I do this right?
Well that didn't work. I connected the wire to a known good ground for a couple of seconds and released it, nothing. I then held it there for 5 seconds and released, no flashing of the ABS light. It was solid on when I got home so there was a code.
Maybe I have a break in my blk/org wire, where does this wire go?
I looked under the glove box and found where the connector is for the org/blk wire. When I jumper the blk/org wire on the other side of the connector, I see the ABS light blink. So I was just using the wrong side connector of the blk/org wire. But should the blk/org wire be connected at the connector? I don't think it's ever been connected and it's never been an issue before.
