I picked up a 1995 F250 4x4 at the county auction a while back. It has those crappy looking steel wheels only the govt can love. I am searching for a used set. As if finding a set isnt hard enough, I cannot get a straight answer of what years will be compatible. Does anyone know? It is the 8 lug type of course.[p]

I think it's 8 on 6.5" the same as chevy and dodge. Some of the wheels have smaller centers though and might not fit around the hubs. Thats with factory wheels though. I'd say all aftermarket wheels would have a big enough center.
I was looking for 95ish to 98 factory Ford forged Alcoa-style wheel for my 1989 crewcab, but I couldn't find any locally (SoCal).
I did, however, find a tire/wheel shop that would take 1999-up factory Ford Super Duty wheels and modify the bolt pattern to fit 1998 and older 8 lug trucks. The factory center cannot be used. I have aftermarket push-through centers on my truck. I have had them for over two years with no problems and they look great! It cost me $300 for everything.
Do you know what they did? My buddy has a set of older wheels that I thought of trying that to make a set of "play" wheels, but don't want to try and mess somthing up or making it unsafe.

They redrilled or enlongated the holes to fit the older bolt pattern. I questioned the safety/durability of this modification but the guy said "don't worry about it". So I didn't. I looked at wheels before they mounted them and I could not see the modification performed. No problem after 2½ years including a 1800 mile trip towing a 22' travel trailer. These are the 5 hole oval-hole aluminum 8-lug factory 1999-up Super Duty wheels
As far as I know but don't quote me is the 8 lug spacing changed with the introduction of the 99 Super Duty. How I found out was when my 99 was delivered my 10inch Alum with my BFG's wouldn't go on, the bolt pattern changed? I asked my tire guy and he couldn't believe it as an 8 lug Ford was 8 lug? He called all his rim guys and they all agreed not to tamper with opening them up on a truck with a GW of 8800lbs trimman
The old 8 lug wheels are 8x6.5" The 99 up Superduty wheels are 8x170mm (about 6.7") The are also hub centric meaning the center hole aligns the wheel. The old wheels used the lug holes to center it.
