ecoboost problems
2012 Ecoboost Lariat
I had to bring my 3.5L in with the check engine light with just barely 500 miles on it. Ended up they had to replace the catalytic converter. Now just last week I was coming back from Florida and went to pass someone on the highway and the truck fell flat on it's face! By the time I got home the check engine light was on, only a year old with 7600 miles on it and they had to replace the intercooler.
Report it
Report it at the NHTSA site. It doesn't take long. We need everyone that has experienced this to report it. That seems to be the only way Ford is going to issue a recall and fix the issue. I had the same thing happen with my entire family in the truck. Luckily, I realized what was happening and nursed it back into my lane before a head on. My intercooler has been replace since. We'll see if it solves the problem.
OP: I have over 82k miles on my EB. Have replaced 4 spark plugs and 4 coils. The two piece drive shaft sucks as far as my experience goes, there's a slight clunk when coming to a complete stop, and a more annoying one when starting off from a dead stop. I also dealt with a shutter which isn't completely gone, this happens when coming to a stop <10mph. Not a single issue with the engine!
A camera mounted low shows the incredible twisting movement of the rear axle. Under acceleration and braking. It makes one feel he is driving a toy. A better spring solution will help. I haven't the problem with mine yet, when I do I will lube the spline and add adjustable overloads. For me it's about the truck and the movement of the truck as long as the ride isn't harsh, bone jarring I'm good with it.
