What is the best way to handle problems with a service dept. @ a ford dealership if they are jerking me around and refusing to deal with the problems I am having with a rebulit engine they installed?
a rebulit engine was installed and defective so they replaced that and still having problems. the odometer is broken and they are saying that because I have driven 30k miles in less than 4 months they will not honor the warranty. this is obviously not possible. No one will cooperate or even listen, they just want more money, I have already spent over 5K dollars. Owner said he would get back to me and he has not. Service manager hung up on me and swore at me.

the odometer may not have been their fault the VSS does go bad on these trucks. what kind of issues does the engine have? the standard warranty is 36k for the reman engines.
You are going to need some sort of evidence to make your case. The odometer being broken really doesn't help matters. It would seem, however, that it is impossible to drive 30K miles in four months. But it is feasible at only 250 miles a day. Some people travel that much. Could gas receipts possibly prove how much you have driven? How about insurance regulations (such being limited to 7500 miles a year)?
If the dealer still won't work with you (and you really must try your hardest to reach an agreement), report them to the Better Business Bureau for sure. I was in a similar situation several years ago with a salvage yard. I finally went through the BBB, and after some negotitations I got my money back and got to keep the defective item. Do not be afraid, the junkyard owner said he was going to sue me for slander if I reported him to the BBB. I very calmly told him he would regret that for sure, and walked out. I then went to the BBB. I had 100% evidence from two Ford dealerships that I was correct.
A record will appear on their BBB files, detailing the conflict and if it was resolved. An unresolved conflict is something no shop owner wants.
I know how you feel, it made me so mad when I had my problems. Try calmly (as hard as it may be) talking to the owner or service manager, then go to the BBB.
