You posted this in the 04-08 forum. I'm sure one of our fine moderators can move it to a forum where you could receive better advice. I know we have a few guys that post in the Missouri forum that know those engines like the backs of their hands and would be glad to help.

So you put stock 360 pistons back in it? Down the hole with 8.2 compression? Did you upgrade your valve springs?

The only "390 performance head" that would do you much good with be a 1960 offering with smaller combustion chambers. Good luck finding those. Otherwise, some other 1960s head have slightly small chambers, and some have bigger valves, but larger chambers.

FE Cylinder Head I.D. and Application Chart

Pull your crank and rods and replace with a 390 crank and rods with those new 360 speck pistons, and you'll have about 9.5 compression and some quench in your combustion chambers.
