Mason, do you still need a set of the oil bafffles for the rockers? If you do send me an e-mail with address and you can have them for the cost of shipping. Tater ltatro@frontier.com.

Actually I have all the parts I need except for distributor and an oil pickup tube for a rear sump oil pan. I have looked for a distributor and I was wondering if any of these would work.

That looks like a nice unit and priced very reasonable. For my project I just bought a remanufactured distributor. The place I bought it from set the distributor curve, sent them all the engine info (cam, compression ratio, vehicle weight, ratio etc.) and they set it up. Price was in the ball park of what your looking at but I still use the igntion control box, etc. Keep us posted on your progress. Tater

I'm not sure what to get for a distributor but here is some progress on my engine.

No reason to not use a factory duraspark. They're cheap, reliable, and easy to adjust.

I don't really care what I use I just want one that I can use an electronic ignition with and I want one with a black cap.

I'd make sure that big HEI distributor will actually fit if you have the bit water hose fitting on the front of the intake.

On a mild build, yes. Get too radical, and it will be the limiting factor.
