MUFFLER RECOMMENDATION
I am replacing the factory exhaust on my '88 F250 460 EFI auto. I am going either straight back or dumping out before the back tires. Since no cat is to be used, I need a muffler recommendation. Don't want the drone. Mellow sound while on the highway towing. 2 1/2" pipes from the manifold back. Thanks

I'm running Summit Street and Strip mufflers on my pick up. They are identical to the Flowmaster 40 Series but for less than half the price. They have a nice rumble at idle, and sound really mean when you get on it. I've also ran a single Flowmaster 50 Series for a while. A lot more mellow sounding, but still mean when you got on it.

I prefer the "turbo style" mufflers if I'm goin for a mellow tone, like the Dynomax Ultra Flos. They don't sound as aggressive as a chambered muffler during light throttle, but sound downright mean when you mash the skinny pedal.

Does pulling cat throw any codes? I'm debating taking mine out and doing straight pipe with flowmaster or something similar. Does it need to exit out the side or does dumping straight down in front of rear axle suffice?
