maybe a starter issue??? need advice
Hey guys I have a 83 6.9 and the other morning went to go start it and cranked it a few time as it was very cold and I didn't plug it in and it all of a sudden just clicks once and thats it nothing else so I tried jumping it nothing, tried jumping the relay nothing, cleaned all bat cables nothing, went to the starter and hit it nothing, so I pulled the starter in the process I found the top bolt was almost backed out all the way which was making it loose and when I went to remove the bat cable I broke the starter mounted sollinoid so I'm gonna get a new one and then test the starter but any advice would be great I need this truck on the road as it is not at my shop and I have to do this in my driveway.

Also I forgot to say my column seems to sum times drop out of park and I have to make sure its up there or I won't get anything no clicks at all but the was just a issue before this not sure if its related

You might have answered your own question, if that starter solenoid broke easily it might have been fried.
If not check all your connections, not just at the battery, but on both sides of the relay and both ground cables. Usually a sudden no crank fault is a bad connection.
