Hi guy's, So my 99 f350 v-10 started surging when i started it the other day, probably only varying 100-200rmp. surging at idle and in the throttle at about 3000rmp didnt matter. then threw code p1151 which i understand is drivers side o2 sensor which is new replaced about a year ago, still looks brand new.
So i figured maybe vacume leak somewhere, tried spraying carb & choke cleaner while running to look for leaks came up with nothing they all look good. wiring for 02 sensor looks good as well. then i started it back up no more surging. so i cleared the code & drove about 40 miles ran fine but engine light came back.
Would a dirty Iac throw a p1151 code?(lack of h02-21 switch, sensor indicates lean)
towards the end of last year i fixed some (6) broken manifold studs, new maniflod gasket's, the DFPE sensor, & fuel filter.
Maybe i got a bad 02 sensor?
If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated.
I havn't, I didn't really want to do that if i didn't have to. But i suppose with 160k it could probably use a cleaning. I will try that this afternoon or tomorrow. and see if that does it.
Well i cleaned the IAC & got napa to warrenty the 5 month old o2 sensor. Not sure which it was but (IAC was not ditry at all )engine light hasn't come on. I must have 30 miles on it. Cost of repair 0 dollars, thats alway good.
Bosch o2s are typically lazy, from experience I used a house brand, that didn't work right out of the box, then a Bosch which read slow and surged at idle and low load low rpm. finally switched to motorcraft and no more problem.
my understanding is modulars are fussy when it comes to o2 sensors and almost everybody recommends motorcrafts.
