My 1989 f250 7.3 with 228,xxx is now a dead mule. She hit a ditch and flipped 4 or 5 times. I did manage to get it started once tow'd home to move it today but the engine fan didn't sound to well on metal and plastic. Debating on what to do with her
Well the front end can never be fixed or trusted again. The cab roof is now lower than it used to be. The fenders and hood is wrapped tight around the engine but i guess the engine is ok. I am unable to verify how it looks tho. All the glass is busted except for the drivers side window and one slider. As far as drivetrain, the transmition and the rear end is still good. It ripped my drivers side tires plum off the bead and into the fender wells so two rims may possible be bent. I have a concusion, a swollen right thumb, a sore shoulder that can't lift anything at the moment as well as some bruises and many cuts from glass. I am thankful to be alive and i am lucky that i was given the chance of life after this wreck
How long can it sit full of diesel before i have to worry about it going bad? I obviously can't work on it for awhile. But the fuel does have diesel kleen in it which is suppose to preserve fuel i think. Im looking to drop the tanks this spring as well as cut the hood apart to get it off and look for a cracked engine.
I've messes with trucks that have been dead for years and the diesel still burned. If you have a simlar truck or have an Idea for a project, keep it around. now it is just costing you space. Don't just pull the engain and throw the rest away. I have on rolled truck that just the cab is left and I still rob part out from under the dash. Its amazing how many trips it can save to the parts store.
