" Big Tan" 85 F350 2wd DRW SAS/4wd conversion project
Figured I'd start one of these as well..Hopefully get some pictures up later .
Truck was basicly 1 owner F350 DRW 6.9. 2nd owner had problems and it was parked more than it ran. They only put like 3000 miles on it. The previous owner was a friend of a friend so we knew the history of the truck...
Picked it up cheap , they couldnt get it running(glow plug issues)..
Decided I wanted to plow...Bought an old fisher plow...then decided I wanted 4wd, found a 86 F250 4wd 6.9 donor...
Then I found a D60 at a good price and decided to ditch the HD 44 idea since it was more suited for what I wanted...
So far I have stripped the front suspension down to the rails, and basicly stopped there with the exception of gathering parts and cleaning/painting..
I think it will be cool to have a semi budget 4wd F350 Pick up.
more to come

Cab and chassis trucks could be ordered from the factory 4x4. The dually pickups could not be ordered 4x4 in these years, only later when the superduties came out sometime in the late 90's. Just to let you know there are some factory cab and chassis 4x4's running around that are factory. That's where the original poster of this thread is going to get some of his parts from(dually wheel adapters for the front or the complete dana 60 dually style 4x4 frontend)

Tryin to get my hangers hung
Well have all my hangers drilled out for 1/2" hardware, blasted, painted and ready to bolt up.
Still need to cut out the notch for the front shackle and waiting on a bud to machine me up some spacers to make up the difference between the 2wd and 4wd frame .
I made a template off the donor frame. I could have easily used the brackets alone for templates, just wanted to accurately transfer the location of that pivot bolt.

That came of the donor 86 F250.. The 87 My d60 came from had the same frame . and hanger set up. I was suprised , i thought 87 and up was a frame change, just brackets and a new bumper
the last two pics are the 87 donor, now there was a fisher plow on it, so there may be some aftermarket brackets in there

picked the project back up
been a while....like a year.. my budget bronco decided it didn't want to hold the gas tank up anymore(bad frame) so forced to finish the project...
It basically has been sitting all summer long .. I have not taken as many pictures as I would have liked but here are a few more..
used the forward body mount brackets on the frame as a source of locating the rear spring hangers..
using the original 250/4wd frame I used the pivot bracket and a plate mounted underside the x-member , welded some scrap between them, then bolted the rig to my truck and located the holes for the track bar...just a quick post for now...
