Help, Leaking Oil
Thank you in advance for taking time to read my post.
Nope these pictures don't really help. The reason being that the source of an oil leak can be some distance from where the oil leak hits the ground.
The problem is that oil leaks from somewhere in the engine. It then runs down the block or transmission or whatever structure is next to the leak until it hits the ground.
This process is controlled by gravity. The upshot of this, is that the actual leak can be a long away from where the vehicle is dripping oil.
If you want to pursue this yourself you 'll need to thoroughly clean the engine using engine cleaner, (a spray on can) brake parts cleaner (spray on can) and rags and a lot of effort. Compressed air also helps a lot. Once the engine is clean, drive it, then look for the new oil stain. Follow the new oil stain back to it's source and you've found the leak.
You can make this process easier on yourself by buying a UV dye kit (less than $50). You add the dye to your oil, drive the vehicle and then using your UV light and UV glasses look for the shiny florescent dye. This is where the leak is coming from.
Hope this helps
