By clean tuning do you mean DPF on applications?

If so many of the tuners will do those.

Banks is probably the industry leader in emissions friendly DPF on tuning.

Ok so Im shocked and going to have to do a manual test. Going out to get the tuner I got 18.5 mpg, after tune on the way back 30.5. Same distance 20 miles. We are flat, at sea level. My truck is stock otherwise??? Speeds were 55-70.

lie o meter is off even more when tuned vs stock. You will not see big numbers on a tuned truck as one might think. It would be a stretch to see 20 mpgs on the hwy.

My thoughts exactly. So is that how these things work and how they market tuners? If so thats just Wrong!

I think alot of tuner companies push the truth. I have been reading and watching alot of videos with Gale Banks and after hearing him talk and his credentials alone give me confidence in me purchasing the Banks tuner. As Gale Banks himself said, all their numbers are tested and guaranteed.

Well the truck definitely drives faster. In less it messes with the fuel computer it's getting better miles per gallon. I'm out doing a 30 mile loop right now to see how much gas it burns. Unfortunately it went into cleaning the DPF mad and my average is down to 26 miles per gallon right now. We'll see how accurate it actually is.

Okay Lie o meter is right. Foolish for me to think that Ford would make a computer that actually scientifically tracked and computed numbers.

I went out for a 50 mile run. Unfortunately I had a lot of traffic on the highway and the truck decided to clean the exhaust during the run. On the meter my mileage dropped to 22 miles to the gallon. When I crunched the numbers myself I got 16.5 miles to the gallon. I guess at this point I will have to run a tank full of gas and see what those numbers turn out to be. I was really excited about the gas mileage for a minute there. One thing that is for sure is that The acceleration has really picked up.

If it helps, my Lie-o-meter is fairly accurate with stock tuning. When I load up the 275hp tune, my meter is off 6-7 mpgs on the high side. So when i am running down the interstate with an average of 24 mpgs, im actually hand calculating 17. My brother's 08 with the 275 tune is averaging 590-615 miles a tank on the road. This is a shortbed tank (30 gallon). His truck is an extreme freak of nature.

Bone stock here.

My hand-calculated mpgs run about 13.7 around town with a regen after burning 1/4 a tank, 14-ish with no regen, and about 18mpg on straight 65mph freeway with no regen, station to station. A full regen basically burns 1-2 gallons of fuel

I never reset my lie-o-meter. It currently reads around 15.1mpg even though my hand-calc'd mpgs are down in the low 14's

Hand calculate your mpgs and then average it over several hundred miles. That says all.

Interesting..my lifetime is 11.5. My Banks IQ monitor tracks that. 11.5 imho is pretty good when you consider the amount of heaving towing I do. I don't think it would be any better doing the heavy tows with a tuner.

Admittedly patience has never been my long suit, but I have never been able to do a real good MPG test on my truck and I doubt that very many others have either. To do the test right one would have to fill the tank to a level that can be observed. That takes about 15 minutes after the shut off occurs on an automatic pump or after you start getting a splash out. Who does that once, let alone twice(once to fill up at start of test, once to measure mileage at end of test) to check the mileage for one tank. I would say a good mileage test would involve three tanks full to empty. Anything less is a WAG at best,

Me driving empty most of the time probably explains my numbers compared to yours

Interesting... I just calculated my lifetime mpg since buying the truck new... 45900miles and 3110gallons of fuel = 14.8mpg.
That's hard to believe but seems reasonable since if I'm off by a tank, it doesn't make much difference.
Total spent on fuel is $11.4K or about $0.25/mile vs $0.20/mile in my F150. Ouch.

I think I reset my LOM once or twice early on...so I guess it's not too far off..
