Just removed mine and I love it. I think the dash looks alot cleaner without the pad, I even like how the defrost grommets look. Made a huge improvement, and takes only about 20 min.
Try carefully tapping the bottom of the studs to loosen them up. Just tap them lightly, that should do it. I paid $5 for a perfect original one at the wrecking yard...Argue with the people there but insist on taking the thing off yourself, the yard workers work too fast and often crack them while taking them off. I passed up 3 pads last month one black, one green, and one red, because because they had a 1 inch or less crack on the top around the radio speaker holes; I figured nobody would want them. Maybe I should pull them and Ebay them.
I bought a parts truck mostly for the dash pad! Got the truck for 500 bucks and since have saved myself waaaaay more than that. I figured if the dash pad is worth 300 new, plus shipping and all i was better off with the whole truck. It inadvertantly saved me a pile of money for new drums cause the truck only has 50 000 on it as an added bonus i got a spare tranny and a 373 rearend too!
Probably the smartest thing i ever did (other than buy ford in the first place!)
So, what did you decide, Wagion? New dash or plain metal? It's nice to hear that there are still primo dashes available used. I'm in Arizona which is usually an advantage with these old trucks but in this case, the sun takes it toll and nice dashes are really hard to come by.
jor
Yeah, are dashes are in great shape up here but our body panels are rusted away from salty roads in the winter. Amazingly enough my truck doesn't seem to be rusting anymore. Hopefully I can get some paint on there asap. Undented front bumpers are also hard to come buy for some reason.
Took the dash off an am going to sell it on ebay it is in great shape. YA must be the north country it rarely gets above 75 here in the summer and is cloudy most days so the dashes stay in good shape
I just got my new pad from MotorHaven! Looks great as expected. As advertised, using original Ford tooling, so it looks like a mint original.
Anyway, do you need to remove the glove box or gauge cluster to remove the pad? I haven't really poked around in there yet. But, it seems to me that it would be hard to find all of the bolts? At least I have the new pad with all bolts to use as a guide.
The 67 interior should be looking almost as good as the exterior here shortly. A couple of custom door panels, to allow for some speakers and I'll be in good shape. (I'm not even going to bother trying to find 67 door panels) AC is blowing cold. Almost tolerable even in the recent 105+ heat.
I've been working on the 67 some and noticed the rear suspension. This beast has a total of 9 springs in the rear. There are 7 standard springs in the pack, the one thick flatter spring on the bottom and what appears to be a factory helper spring with 2 extra bump stops on each side. They have Ford markings, otherwise I would have though they were aftermrket parts.
My 69 has a very different 5 spring setup (may be 5 plus the one thick flat spring). The 69 also has the flex-o-matic or whatever it was called, multiple piece spring bushing setup. Both are F250 Camper Specials. I though that kind of wierd.
Was there a heavy spring upgrade option in 67 F250s?
I just wanted to know what U guys thought of this. My uncle found me 2 arm rests and a dash pad for free. There aint no cracks but were faded. So a little armor all and shoepolish and they were better than new. Man I love those old farmers with trucks sitting in fields. Just got to ask nice and U can have anything for free.

Heavy deuty rear springs were a Camper Special option, so its odd that both of them don't have them. I would have thought that the spring set up would be the same for CS throughout the series. *shrugs*
And BTW, Joe fix it- Your such a dog! Talk about luck. Next you'll come here braggin about the perfectly straight bright metal grill you got for free, right?
dont forget when you pull that old cracked dash pad off to rip out the vent grills, they are already predrilled so all you have to do is, clean them up paint to match and screw them in, better then having the holes there which packs of smokes and garage openers seem to migrate too.
I ended up pulling my dash out in pieces. Didn't save my vent covers cause my blower doesn't work. If you take the ducts down those holes make good cup holders! A 20 oz coke fits perfect! Just make sure there is enough other crap that fell in the holes to stop the bottles from falling through.
