Mysterious 'THUMP'

I have this thump when I take off from a dead stop. When I ease on the accelerator it feels like two thumps, one when I give it a little gas and then another when I give it a little more. Once I get going, no thump. I have also felt it while backing up my driveway.
I have replaced the carrier bearing and both front sway bar links that were trashed.

Any suggestions??!

Yes, the Super Duty Thump!

Slip joint a little dry? Try putting a little grease on it.

You need to grease the driveshaft slip yoke. Being that you have a 2 piece driveshaft, I think the slip yoke IS NOT at the transmission, but between the carrier bearing and the rear end. Ford has special teflon grease for it, but I would guess that most any grease would work. Dissassemble it, and grease the splines of the slip yoke. I'm sure that someone else here with a 2 piece driveshaft will chime in and tell you where the slip yoke is located.

WOW! Never thought of that. Yes the slip joint is at the carrier bearing because I remember cussing it a time or two putting it back together.
I will try that this weekend maybe I won't have to verbally persuade it to go together easy this time.

Some other bits of useful info here too. Scroll down to the bottom of page 1. Then the grease PN is on page 2. Yes only use the FOMOCO grease! I learned this the hard way.

I'm beginning to thinks all ford pickups have this slip yoke thump. My 97 f150 had it. My 2000 f250 does it. My friends 04 f150 does it. Now my brother-in-laws 2012 f150 does it. The 2012 f150 only has 10,000 miles on it. There was a thread on here where someone scraped the blue coating off the splines and it cured the problem. I grease my splines and the thump is gone for about a year and then it's back.
