You would probably be happier with the 500 if you ran the 350 first. I run a 390 cfm 4 barrel, the truck is more alive with a 600 but the 390 gets the job done.

The 500 CFM unit hands down, especially when you consider that its really only rated at 353 CFM if you do the math and convert it to the CFM ratings used for 4 barrels

jowilker thanks for your quick response,What about fuel mileage in the city,I hear freeway mileage is good with the 500 but sucks in the city,is that true I'm just trying to buy the best choice, price is not an obstacle sense its only a couple of bucks difference.

I have that exact carb on my truck, 500 cfm. I love it, super easy install right outta the box and tuning is a breeze too. If I keep my foot out of it I actually get better mileage both in town and highway than I did with my old worn out stock carb. Like mentioned above it really wakes up even a stock 390.

Here is a pic of the 4412c holley 500cfm carb I have on my 352. The motor is stock as far as I know it has a 30 over bore. I run a set of headers and this carb seem to be right at home here. I have not checked my miles per gallon but I am going to this summer. The truck is put away for the winter. Rear gear is a 3.50 which seems to be a good all around gear. Im thinking that carb would do just fine on a 390. If it still has the stock exhaust manifolds on it I would try and find a way to dual it or install headers. The headers thing is just my opinion if you look at the stock exhuast manifolds they look very restrictive.

I have some headers just not installed, because I have heard that they cause(1) the starter to fail because of the heat they put out,(2)they burn thru gaskets causing exhaust likes,so that's why I haven't put them on.
But regarding the carb I'm buying it tomorrow.

"THANKS FOR ALL THE INPUT GUYS"

MPGs suck either way, doubt 1/4 mpg difference. These old trucks were not designed for economy. For mpgs you have to keep the engine turning as slow as possible. Lowest rear end ratio like 3.00, or OD tranny.

Headers are a good thing for engine air flow, a starter blanket is a good investment.

I am pissed because I can't get my 06 F-150 passed 15.1 mpgs and it has OD. If you love these old trucks like most of us, ya gotta suck it up, filler up, and D R I V E!
