Ok I have a 75 f250 hiboy and it has the NP203 and the dana44 front axle, is there anyway I can make this a non full time 4wd. What do I need to change?
Crazy combo, but sounds interesting, you need a "part time kit" installed. Which is a set of lock in/outs for the front hubs and a little internal work on the xfer case, I do believe?
Call your local 4x4 & Off Road shop for the kit and possible install and or do you have any truck/tractor pull supply places around you, they might be able to help too?
Guess I will dig out a 205, I think I have one hoarded away.
This truck has had alot of modification over the years. It had the auto colum and a 4 speed, the shifter for the t-case is home made, I was told it was a 428 cobra jet under the hood.....
Thanks for the info/links also, but another question is where do i find hubs for it? All I have found were the style that have the little Allen screws. My black truck has selectro lockouts and I searched every parts store top to bottom for a set and could not find a set ( they took a normal bolt like this does.
Well based on your pic of the hub, you need the dana 44HD external closed knuckle lockouts like these. Yes, they are very have to find now. I have a few sets I "might" part with them...PM me if you are interested.
Nothin like havin a high-pinion dana 44 with a 203 hooked to it though! With that set up it's very hard to find a better set-up for pulling or a place where 4x4 needs locked-in to get out.
Take the money you would have spent on a part-time kit and invest in a 205 instead, the 205 is a much better case, imo converting a 203 is just putting lipstick on a pig.
Ok I found a set of hubs on one of the trucks I have just sitting in my yard, however I haven't crawled under any yet to look for a 205, I'm sure I have one just not 100%.
And my front axle is a low pinion not high on the front.
Well..... That will be a little while till that day comes, it's 20 ish here with 20-30 mph winds and a storm comming in.... It may be a month or three before I get that far.
