Spare Keys

Spare Keys
Hey Guys. I have a 2012 F250 XLT that I just bought. I'd like to have a spare key cut for it but the owner's manual is confusing. Apparently there's a chip inside the key that allows the vehicle to start, but it doesn't mention anything about the locks. What I want is a basic, flat, key that I can put in my wallet in case I lock the keys in the truck or something. Yes, I know I could just carry the second key in my other pocket or something, but I really don't want all that junk in my pockets.
So can I get a spare key cut at the local hardware store to open the doors in an emergency?

Yes....a non chipped regular key can be cut.....it will only open the doors....it will never start the truck unless a chipped key is close to the column. Shops may give you problems about cutting one since it will not operate the ignition. Not sure you can get a blank that is correct since it is a newer vehicle.
