Carb issues
I am swapping over to the DS II system and purchased a rebuilt carb from national carbs. It is a non-feedback YFA model. My problem is that it is leaking gas from the base and I cannot seem to make it stop. I have tightened the bolts until I am afraid they will break if any tighter. The gasket is new and came with the carb. It is the one with the hard plastic around the bolt holes to prevent over tightening. Have any of you had this issue or know what I may be doing wrong? I got the carb issue fixed. The needle was stuck causing the carb to flood, now I have figured out the intake gasket is leaking and fuel is running down the side of the motor. Maybe one day I can get it running again. It tried to fire once when I first started trying it, but after the carb started flooding it never hit again. The timing should be right, I turned the engine until the #1 piston was at TDC on the compression stroke, then put the distributor in with the rotor pointed at the number 1 plugwire. I will replace the intake/exhaust gasket next weekend and go from there.
