assembly question

Is there an actual procedure for adjusting an original hood latch? My books don't mention it but I would think there must be something somewhere.

I've never found an actual written procedure. I adjusted the spring on mine so with pressure down on the hood, the latch slips over the lower spring retainer part of the latch. I have mine so tight that I always push the hand part of the latch toward the rear and sometimes feel it move slightly. I do not slam my hood. I've never had my hood show any signs of wanting to self open. Light lubrication is, IMO, necessary for the mechanism to work right. The safety latch is important but if all works well with the main latch, should never be needed.
