HELP! Starter moter hook up
Hello. First post but I have a problem.
I'm changing out the starter motor on my 02 Excursion 7.3 and I'm having trouble finding out where the wires go. I know where the main battery cable goes, the large copper lug, and I know where the black wire goes, Silver lug at 7 oclock if the copper is at 12, as that's where they were when I took them off. However there is a Yellow wire with a black/green strip on it that I have no idea where it goes as it must have some how detached itself as I pulled the starter off after taking the two main bolts off.
The Yellow wire is wrapped in a black plastic wrapping and bundled with the heavy gauge red wire from the batteries. If anyone can help it would be wonderful.
Thanks!

Not that I'm aware of. I do know that if I put the yellow wire on the same post as the battery and clamp it between the washer and the nut, which is what it looked like had been done before, the starter will start to spin as soon as I hook up the first battery. I'll have to look at the wires after work. How many wires SHOULD go to it?
Thanks

Here is a link to Wood n Things (Ken) page with a trove of info, and an illustration of the wiring on the starter solenoid. Hope it helps.
