Well,my clothes dryer decided it didn't want to dry clothes any more today. It runs but doesn't put out any heat. Would the heating element be the most likely reason or is there some other reason for no heat? how hard to replace a heating element? The dryer is only four years old, really don't want to buy a new one if I don't have to.
Electric dryers are pretty simple overall. I have a stacked unit (washer/dryer in one), and I've had to replace the rear support bearing, two thermal limiters and the door seal. I've gotten pretty good at taking the thing apart and putting it back together.
Just based on my experience, you may have a thermal limiter that's bad--it should be about $10 or so. Mine weren't necessarily obvious, but they pretty much crumbled when I took them out (had two different ones that went out about a year apart), and they kept the heating element from coming on, but not the blower.
Make sure you unplug it before you start tearing into it--I did reach into mine once near where the appliance cord enters, and I bumped one of the hot terminals. Didn't need coffee the rest of the day.
