Question regarding gauges 2011Lariat

Ok, so I'm not the brightest lightbulb. I've had this truck for almost 2 years now and I just noticed this today. In the information panel where it displays trip A & B where it shows a diesel pump and the amount of gals used, right next to the pump on the right is an arrow that points down. The pump icon under it where it displays MPG has no such arrow. I've scoured the manual and the diesel supplement, and can't find a thing about the arrow. Can anybody tell me its significance? Inquiring minds want to know.

I've been irritated by the same thing. What does the arrow mean and why doesn't it ever go away or change to an up arrow? It has never made any sense to me in the three years I've been staring at it.

I've thought maybe it intends to inform you that the fuel level is moving in a downward trend but it never changes. It should go away or point up at appropriate times.

On other vehicles, where I've seen the arrow, it usually pointed to the left or right to indicate the side the filler neck was on. It wasn't anything that changed colors or direction.

About the only significance I can see is that it is on the left side of the display to show you which side the pump should be on when you fuel - nice feature in a rental car, but once you've dumped $100.00 into a truck tank, you'll know how to do it again.

Yes I know about the arrow usually showing which side the filler neck is on, but this arrow is on the right side of the pump pointing down and the filler neck is on the left side of the truck. It makes no sense. There has to be a techie on this forum that can explain it. You know how fuel stuff has people paranoid around here
