I did regulated return on my motor last month, deleted the fuel bowl, running a dahl 150 under the frame. My fuel pump pressures are dropping now from 62psi, down to 0-20psi <acronym title="Wide Open Throttle">WOT</acronym>. The pump is also making wierd noises, so Im assuming its on its last leg(original pump 171K miles).
What would yall recommend for a new pump and what are the prices of these options. I plan to step up the injectors one day.
John, after all my recent research on fuel pumps, the only thing on the market right now that is diesel approved and will be warrantied if it fails when you're using diesel is the Aeromotive Marine Grade A1000 pump. That is if you want a pump that can flow more fuel for upgraded injectors later. Bob at Dieselsite sells them. http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=475
It's expensive, but it's the only real option out there right now that's diesel approved. I've got a Bosch 044 pump that's not been working perfectly, and I found out after I purchased it that it's not diesel approved. So, if it fails, I'm not covered under any kind of warranty.
Also, both ITP and DI are working on a new fuel pump, but neither is ready right now. I'm waiting until mine completely fails before I change anything out, hoping that one of the two will be ready by then.
I'm also looking into these pumps, but know they aren't ready either yet: http://www.fuelab.com/prod.php?pk=1 These seem like they'd be a pretty darn good pump though, with all the radiused parts in the pump where fuel flows and the brushless motor design.
That might be the one. Ive been looking at fuel pump for the last 3 hours, and that is the only one i can find that I like. The warranty has me pretty much sold. God I hope it can get here before my stock one dies. Thanks Jeremy!
John, which one? The Aeromotive or the Fuelab pump. Bob's got the Aeromotive in stock. The info I got on the Fuelab pump is that they don't quite have them ready for production yet. Also, you've got a PM coming.
