Track bar bolt

I have a 2002 Ex 7.3
I will be changing a track bar bushings, it looks like its mounted with a large bolt.
What is the size of that bolt?

Save yourself a lot of grief. You probably don't have a wrench big enough to loosen it or to torque the bolt back on (I think it is 420 lb-ft).

Just take it to a front end or tire shop. They will install for about $75 to $100.

That is the only part on my Excursion suspension that I paid someone else to install after many attempts. You would need a very big air impact.

405 from what most people say.
I do have access to some large sockets and wrenches, so i would rather do it myself than pay somebody $100.

its a 30mm deep I got it at orielly auto parts for 14.00, most big box stores will carry them. Just get a big breaker bar and get as tight at you can. Mine came off my truck after 300,000 miles with nothing more than a 3/4 drive impact gun. IMHO just get it tight and make a note of it next time its in for an alignment or something else. I don't think its that critical. Mine has been fine for 10,000 miles.

I'm traveling, so operating from memory. Bolt thread diameter is 22 mm or 18mm (2 sizes). Don't remember hex size--maybe 32?mm. Better get an impact socket

30mm They are all the same between F series and Excursions. I did an F350 FX4 with a 30 mm bolt (head) and my ex was the same. IIRC the instructions said to torque it to 250 lbs until a shop can tighten it all the way. It wont hurt driving on it but I would not ignore it, I have more of a burtal approach when working on things like that, long breaker bars and lots of brute force usually work for me. If you do not feel comfortable doing this then have a shop do it.

When you go to buy the new track bar assembly and/or bushings, you have to know the thread diameter of bolt. There are 2 sizes, even though the hex width may be identical. You may not know thread diameter until you pull it out of there.
