I'm installing an "old school" Mallory Dual Point Distributor (2755301) and a Mallory Voltmaster Mark II Coil in my F.E. in my 71 Truck. Do I also need to get some kind of in-line resistor going to the coil? I spoke with the mechanic in town, and he said he thought I'd need one. Anyone ever heard of this?
Also, have any of you guys ever used a Mallory Voltmaster Coil? I bought one, and went to install the coil wire that I bought - it looks as though the coil wire is pressed onto a small spike/pin kinda thing, and that's how it makes contact. Is that right?
I had a Mallory duel point in a street rod once and i used the mallory big square looking coil that has the resister built in to it. I don't remember the part # of it but if you go to their site you should find the information for the one you have. But i believe you will need one added to the system if it's not built in to the coil.
