I have a 2001 super cab with an 8' bed. The bed channels are rusted away except for two. I am capable of removeing and repairing the bed however:
1. I would consider a replacement bad if it is of the same years. All the dealers around me seem to only have the newr beds with the different wheel arch.
Does anyone know of a place that has beds that is not terribly far from Pittsburgh PA? Maybe 250 mile radius or so?
2. Does anyone have a source for pre-bent channels to repair my bed?
3. Are the tailgates of the 2001 to present all the same or different besides the ' SUPER DUTY ' pressed into the skin.

The tailgates are the same you just have to change one hinge on the box to make the newer tailgate work on an older super duty..
There are replacement rails on Ebay for our years. I found them in other parts of the auto part section. I think they were around 400. I think.
Hope this helps.
I'm in the same boat you are. I plan on pulling my bed this summer and making a decision then to repair, replace, or go with a flatbed. Check out this link
I think he is near Franklin/Oil City area...not too too far from Pittsburgh. 1500 is a fair price for a new bed up here in the rust belt. From what I have read, don't quote me on it, they are a direct swap for the 99-04 just a slightly different body line. The negative is that you'll probably need it painted. That is why I've been considering a flatbed since the basic setups are no more than a take off bed.
I replaced the beds on my 2000 and 2002 with 2013 take offs. The beds cost me $1500 which included the tailgates, the bolts cost me $80 from Ford and other than extending the wiring for the reverse lights, everything fit right in place. I undercoated the new beds heavily before setting them in place. Also added the Ford fender liners (surprisingly cheap from Ford for the set). My 2002 is a Oxford White Lariat with the gold accent, so it cost an extra $400 to get that painted on and then pinstriped. The 2000 is black so no repainting was required. I have a bed topper and ladder rack that I use on both trucks when needed and didn't want to lose the functionality by going with a flat bed.
