DPF delete thread #234129038407
Can anyone give me some solid advice about deleting my DPF and cat. Can I get away with a mild tune or just the delete tune?
I want better MPG, but I am not interested in spending $2000 to get it. The prices of delete kit sand tuners are all over the map. Some are cheap and some are off the charts.
Before I get scolded, I did do a search and found tons of conflicting information. Maybe we can pile all the information into one thread.
Has anyone ever gone to a local muffler shop and had them build the cat/dpf delete pipe? From what Ive seen it doesn't look too complicated.

I got a h&s I like the tuner, but I only get ten miles to the gallon. That is short trips up and down hills pulling a trailer every tank. Love the no regens and the power. Not crazy about the shifting. But it was worth the thousand dollars to not have to put up with "drive to clean exhaust" message.

The increase in MPG will not be much, let's say 15 to 20 percent. You will not get 20 MPG or aqnything near it. But it will payh for the tuner in a year or two.
I would be suprised iy a muffler shop would build you a pipe for less than they sell for on ebay but any shop should be able to do it.
The posts above have a couple tuners thatr sell for cheap. You need to know that Edge and H&S have both stopped making tuners that will allow you to delete the DPF. According to the EPA they fined Edge 500,000 bucks. So probably the other companies will get the same treatment soon. So, barring a new entry into the market from Mexico or somewhere delete tuners are the cheapest they will ever be right now. The scarcer they get the more they will be worth.
I think I got everything, oh yeah, FWIW there was an H&S on the detroit craigs list for 950 (I Think) the other day. Hope this is helpful.

I know im going to get yelled at but my H&S took me from 8-9mpg to 12mpg in city to up to 18mpg highway usually around 16 or so I run the mild tune or its called tow now since last update. My favorite camping spot is a 2 1/2 hour drive pulling my 5er i would roll inot town with 1/4 tank left now I got a little over 1/2 tank. Ok let the beatings begin LOL ohhh and stock set up no lift no big wheels.

I don't know what truck you have but I guess an F 250 Extended cab with a 3.31 rear axle on a level run could get close to 18, or as you said " usually around 16" which sounds like it's often in the 15 to 16 range. That's doable, but far from 20.
