Roller to Flat Tappet, Thats right!

Yes thats right I had all the stuff to rebuild my old 1970 302 and I got a hold of a 1989 roller long block with a fresh rebuild. The new engine was stock and missing pushrods and front timing cover, needless to say I used all the new parts I had already bought for the 1970 302 lumpy bumpstick and all, and finished putting this engine together. Ok after getting correct pushrod length and finding a cover, I fired the ol gal up and got her broke in, after getting the brakes back together and trans shifting correctly, it was time to take the first ride, I get 100 feet out of the driveway and she stalls, got her fired up and have no oil pressure. I had it before when breaking it in. i remember having to remove the lifter web from the roller lifters when installing the flat tappet cam. did I need to plug the bolt holes that the web was held in with? thats the only thing I can think of that might make me lose pressure. I have got the best most helpful info from you guys on here than anywhere! help me once again.

I don't think the bolts go into the oil galley. Even if they did, it should not have caused your engine to stall unless the engine froze up due to lack of oil pressure. Try to turn the engine over by hand. If it is new, new bearings, rings etc. I would take the spark plugs out to make this a little easier. If it turns over and is not froze up my first thought would be a bad oil pump. Even if it is new, they can go bad early (don't ask how I know). Also check your distributor to make sure it is bolted down tight. Good luck
