Thats a big question requiring a lot of reading on your part. What are your needs? If I were to start from the beginning with buying a truck and my needs were just to have a truck, go with the most dependable thing you can afford. Keep basic. My son has a Ford Ranger straight shift and it has been one of the most dependable trucks I have ever seen. The Ford F150 is another. The less bells and whistles you have the eaiser to maintain. Do some reading but it will in the end depend on your pocket.
Hi, I just got my first job and wanting to save up for a truck, I was wondering the pros and cons of the different years and generations. Thanks
Congrats on your first job. While I agree with the other guys, you can get whatever you see that you can afford. Just keep these in perspective:
Fuel Prices
Need (Snow/Ice/Ranch)
The truck in my signature is the first truck I bought on my own over 8 years ago. She has seen almost every lower 48 state on the map too! My advice is not to be concerned with the trim level (FX4/King Ranch/Lariat) because some of the XLTs have a lot of the same features. Plus if you get one you can add whatever you want later (Sound/Tint/Fog Lamps/Bed Liner) and really customize it to whatever you want!
I would go with a 08 or higher...if not as long as the person can prove it's had its spark plugs changed (even better with the one piece champion) you should be golden. Just check for leaks under the truck and request all the service receipts.
