I like my Ranger just fine and don't have much of a need or desire to own a larger truck that's going to just cost me more to drive (overkill).
What I'd like to see from Ford is a blend of a level II with some of the King Ranch luxury stuff. Not all of us that chose to own small trucks do so out of financial necessity, although the cost of ownership for a Ranger is certainly a lot nicer than for a larger vehicle. I spend 99% of my driving either by myself or with one passenger. I spend the same amount of time hauling much less than the regular size bed is capable of holding, therefore I'd like to have a little more upscale truck in the size I like with the same capability, and ruggedness as my FX4.
It seems that Chevy did that with the S-10 and went with the Colorado and it flopped for them. I think there has to be a clear line drawn between a small truck and the large gas guzzlers because that's what really sells them. They (Rangers) are small yet built tough and are very economical.
I think the Colorada flopped is because it's the ugliest thing out their. I test drove one a few months ago and squeeled the tires from a stop in 2nd geer. I just could'nt get over how ugly it was.
I actually think its a good idea. Maybe some 18" rims, tanned leather interior, wood trim dash, and King Ranch badging. You know, as an option. I think it should be standalone, or combined with the FX4. I don't know. Anyone else?
