IDM Relay Issue

I have a buddy with a 1995 F350 and it will randomly die and not restart after driving. When he cranks it over after it dies the truck will not smoke, leading me to believe that the injectors are not getting power. He also said that it keeps blowing the IDM relay. Would this mean that the IDM is most likely shot? He has replaced the CPS so thats not the issue.. I was also wondering what the IPR would do if it was shot?

Thanks in advance. Matt

Unplug the IDM and unbolt it from the fender. Take it out and give it a shake. More than likely it has water in it. You'll be able to hear the water sloshing around in it. This is a common problem. If it does have water in it, it will need to be replaced.

Anyone know how the IDM gets water inside the case, as it is supposed to be sealed. Now if anyone knows how it gets in there, what could be done to prevent this reoccurring problem I have never experienced this problem but would like to see a mod done that would prevent it from happening, any ideas ?

I sealed the last one myself with special RTV , and then put a little piece of Ice / Water Shield IKO Roofing Products - Residential Roofing Shingles, Premium Designer Shingles, Laminated Architectural Shingles, Traditional 3-Tab Shingles, Pro4 Roofing System, Underlayment, Roofing Felts, Ice and Water Potectors, Roof Starter Strips, Eave Protect over the top part like a little cap ...That was 2 years ago...You could also use a Freezer Bag probably ..On the Van it fits in a little pocket... water runs on it directly ....
