I have a 2005 awd...the awd isn't working...when i bought the escape i had tried to get it to work and it did and the light came on flashing 4x4...a few weeks later there was a noise coming from the rear end...nothing to do with my test ...i took it to the dealers mechanic and was told they would fix it and as far as i know they did...no noise...after i checked again, the awd is not working...i didn't check till months later...it's snowing here and found out it's not working....i am thinking maybe they disconnected it some how instead of fixing it....any opinion on this would be appreciated ...can it be disconnected ? what would they do to do that or why wouldn't it be working ?...thanks
ok then anyone know what could cause this to happen? how can something work and then not?..is there maybe an electronic problem? also i have noticed at times the truck rolls back on a hill if i let go of the brake peddle...the truck is an auto matic...and not just a few inches back i let it roll one day and it rolled back about 3 car lengths and then i stopped it...

If it was electrical, you "should" have a dash icon come ON. If the driveshaft isn't rotating then no power to the rear wheels.
You can check the fuses, #18 and #35 on the inside fuse panel. Under the hood #19. All three mention 4WD.
