Sorry about my first post, I joined today looking for information not a chat room. I do not have time to spend sitting in front of a computer, if there is no one here to offer any help or good info then remove me from the site.
Welcome to FTE. You posted your question in the Intro thread. It's right up Conanski's alley. I have cut and pasted your question below to speed things up:
Hey everyone, just joined today and hope to get some answer's to a few questions I have. I've been a Ford guy from birth but have not retained all of what I've learned over the years, getting a little olds these days. So here is what I got. My daily driver is a 1994 F-150 XLT it has a good running 5.0 in it with a mere 200,000mi, however it has lost some power over the years and passing on the highway becomes a problem, never mind pulling up hills with a load of cargo in the back. Right now it's sitting on 31x10.50x15 BFs and is all stock except for the Flow Master EXH, it's also a 5spd with dual fuel tanks. I have a 5.8 long block casting# E4AE-6015-FA / 351 CPW4 was also stamped in the valley. I know the 5.8 is a 1984 motor but wasn't sure if i could use the 5.0 stuff on it. Any help or info would be great. Thx...
FWIW, I think most of the 5.0 stuff will go right on the 5.8 Oil pans won't swap if that's an issue. Stand by for more.
No very little from the 5.0 motor will transfer, the 5.8 block is taller and wider and the crank journals are larger, so the 5.8EFI has a unique intake(upper and lower), fuel rail, timing cover, oilpan and pickup, flywheel, and exhaust manifolds due to how the EGR is routed. A 5.8EFI would bolt into the truck because the trans bolt pattern and engine mounts are the same but you also need a 5.8 computer to go with it.
