Dynomax cat-back

Just put a Dynomax 17355 cat-back system on the Expe. I had a Gibson system on there previously. It was 7 or 8 years old and was rusting out. It was really bad at all the joints. So before I put the new one on I painted the ends with never-seize. I put it on the clamps too. Lets see if it helps any. Installation was pretty easy. The only problem was getting the tail pipe lined up right so it didn't hit any of the rear suspension components. The muffler is much smaller than the Gibson so its a lot different sounding. Its very quiet at idle. But when you hit the gas its much louder than the Gibson. Once you get up to speed and your cruising it sounds fine. Not too loud and no drone. So, no regrets so far. Of course the Boss (wife) hasn't driven it yet.

Rechecked it today to make sure its still tight. Found the tailpipe was rattling against the coil spring. I noticed the rear most rubber hanger was very soft and stretched down too much so I replaced it. Problem solved and everything lines up nicely. Also, the wife agrees that its LOUD when you're accelerating, but idling and cruising is fine.

Does a different exhaust change the tune and the way the computer and sensors work? I'm thinking about doing the same thing, but I don't want any issues how the computer re-learns the new tune. (I think I said that right)

I don't believe so. There are no O2 sensors in the piping thats replaced in a cat-back system. If you were to change the exhaust manifolds and/or catalytic converters, then that would affect the computer. Thats why cat-back systems are so popular. They're pretty easy to install and they usually don't void the warranty if its a newer vehicle.

That's my thinking too, just want to be sure. I put a Walker cat back on my '90 F-150 a few years back, not for performance, but because it cost around $100 total. But this time, I want to get a decent exhaust for the Expo.

Thanks
