I know there are some write ups floating around but I can't seem to find this answer. I know 97-98 trucks had the blue backing, but my 99 is an October build. Does anyone know if that had the blue backing as well? I know my 2000 Mustang has the blue, so I know Ford was still using that blue in some vehicles.

My 98 Expedition has the blue background and my 99 F150 has the green background. As I understand it, there was a major technology change between the 98 and 99 MY. Your 99 should have the green background. In either event, LED's can be installed and serve as a nice upgrade. If I remember correctly, when you install LED's, the blue background in the 97-98 vehicles is lost in favor of the green background. I think there is a coating or gel of some sort applied to the bulbs that gives the gauges the blue hue. Hope this helps.
