E4OD to C6? help needed.
I also have a 1995 F250 5.8 4x4 as a parts truck. Currently this truck does run and drive. I am not certain of the type of transmission that is in this truck. However the trans pan does look smaller and different than the E4OD. My F150 is equipped with the electronic pushbutton four wheel drive as well as the automatic 4x4 front wheel locking hubs.
The F250 has a manually (floor shift) activated transfer case, and manual (hand turn) locking hubs.
I am going to install the F250 tranny in the F150. If anyone has any info on what would need to be done to complete the swap, or any interesting dilemas I might uncover, I would be grateful. I will use the entire transfer case and tranny setup from the bellhousing back. Well any info and quesions are welcomed. Thanks ahead of time for your help and interest.
update:
I went ahead and pulled the tranny and transfer case out of the 95 F250. It's a C6, looks factory, even had the assembly line dipstick plug in the pan. I was told the C6 was optional in some trucks that year, even though this truck has a OD on/off switch on the shifter? Looks like I am going to lose overdrive. Is this going to work with my current computer? Any suggestions?

The C6 came out in 1966 (and was in some very late 65 police cars) and ended production in the mid 90's.

I had thought Ford stopped using C6's much earlier. This truck does have the OD switch on the stalk, though. I thought it was sort of odd. I bypassed the neutral safety switch and cranked the F150. Without any tranny wiring hooked up, it ran. So, the swap is on. I hope everything works well.
I am going to get my rear driveshaft lengthened and put the finishing touches on it this weekend. I was able to reuse the dustcover, flexplate, starter, and tranny cooler lines. I also added some hedman shorty mustang headers, so I will have to have the Y-pipe redone. Hopefully I will be done soon.
But c6 is very reliable, it's just that it is 3 speed only and overdrivers are nice.
glad it worked for you
