Question Sliding Rear Window...

I Have the standard flat window, I just can't imagine all that glass without an opening
I would like to get the W-I-D-E-S-T opening as possible...
I was told that all the windows from 73'-96' were the same is that true? How about molding, sealing, leakage...
I've heard people can break into the sliders easy, is that true?

Also, has anyone heard of these
http://www.slickslider.com/
Are they worth the money?
I was thinking that they would stop the normal sand, ect. in the bed from flying into the open window...
If only you could do the same with the side windows too

They are easy to break into. Cheap latches and glass is easy to break. I have a Bill Larence (not sure of spelling) model that has a single slider and leave a nice opening. Don't know if that brand is still around.

I use a magnetic swith to trigger my alarm system if the slider is opened.

My 79 also has the single latch. I carry a couple little sticks that fit in the grove between the slideing window and the end. It give it that extra security.

Yeah, I've got a little thumb screw clamp that's for locking house windows. But I open the window so much I never use the clamp.

Yeah I open mine almost every time I get in it, thats why I got sticks to put in. When I open it the sticks goes straight up so when I close it they just fall down and lock it. If I didnt do it that way I would forget to use them

Slickslider, Looks very nice. I made my own screen for my slider years ago, they may have took my idea. I made mine from a kit you can buy at a hardware store and just used velcro to attach it to the out side of the window opening. Works very well.

Sliding Rear Window...

Don't worry about a cheap sliding rear window latch being easy to get past. These trucks have been the easiest thing to get into since the day they were built. The wing vent is where the thieves will go first if they know anything about trucks. Glass isn't going to keep a determined thief out of your truck. I know how to pull the rear glass whether it is a slider or the stock glass and never break anything and do it from the outside or the inside. Thieves know this too. So you see the very expensive rear slider is really not a theft deterrent. Just be concerned with what overall look and functionality you want and don't worry about something a thief can defeat anyway.
