I have a 99 EB Expedition with the 5.4L and I only get about 13 mpg maybe 14 mpg tops. Cruising around 80 kph and very gentle on the throtle. I also have a K&N CAI as well which really doesnt do much.
What do you guys get??
Is there a way to get better mileage?
(And yes, oil change, light foot driving, tires are all pumped up properly, etc)
Make sure the motor is in good tune. Check your tire pressure regularly, it should be at least 35 psi. Wash and wax your truck. It has the aerodynamics of a refrigerator, the less drag the better. What kind of tires are you using? I just have Michellin LTX2's on mine and get about 17-18 on the highway. I use Mobil One 10w-30 oil and have my tires inflated toward the high side. If your gas has a lot of ethanol in it your mileage will suffer as well. But at least it helps keep the corn prices up.
was getting 16mpg but winter time 15 mpg average and I drive 45hi/55city keeping in mind that just staying over 40mph you'll get the best mpg because overdrive kicks in
To be honest I have not idea what I get (maybe I should pay attention to it), but I didn't buy the vehicle for it's mileage, but it's truckness. I don't think I'll buy another regular car again as this thing has spoiled me - bag gas miles and all. But, I also won't get another Ford truck either.
