They spoke with one of those foreign accents from the northeast Atlantic or south of the equator, about 160 degrees east. They have strange ideas, and it was a waste for them to do that.... I could see if there were safety standards violated, then to have the vehicle exported or a bond posted until it could be brought up to standards.
BUT I would bet it was some tax levy or payment to a petty government official which wasn't done...
What a huge waste! No reason it couldn't have been parted out then shred the frame and related "safety violations". I'm sure some X owner out there could have used the tail lights, grill, headlights, hood, doors, and on and on. Just like the stupid cash for clunkers program from about a year ago, huge waste of taxpayer funds! Excuse me while I go barf!
I think the Excursion limo is much safer than the stretched Chrysler 300`s, Aspen`s Caddilac Escalades and and whatever else they like to stretch and just add up the front and rear axle rating to get the new GVWR!

I understand your point here, but the pair of taillights is only worth maybe $10 at the most, for the pair. There's millions of them out there between Excursions and Econolines.

I realize parts like tail lights are inexpensive, but other parts like doors (which I could use thanks to the salt they use on our roads) are worth money. Just sayin it could have been used better to help keep other Excursions on the road.
True it is sad to see one shredded, though I found my self wishing for a camera angle of it actually going though the shredder. If your going to do some thing, do it right. As if any government agency could EVER get some thing right.
