Power Locks Unlock Themselves
I have a 2007 f150 SCrew XLT
The problem I've been having for awhile is that the locks unlock themselves. I first noticed it when I came out in the morning and the truck was unlocked and I was pretty sure I have locked it the night before, then over time it started to unlock itself while I was driving - over and over again with no input from me with fobs or switches or anything. It doesn't matter whether the truck is running or not, keys in or out it unlocks itself randomly and often
To be clear, the locks do not cycle lock and unlock, they ONLY do the unlock action. When you drive down the road it sounds like someone is pressing the unlock button over and over again - sometimes rapid fire... then sometimes 20 minutes goes by without a problem
Originally I thought the problem was worse when it was raining which it might have been
I took it to the dealer and explained the problem, they said that the windshield and rear cab light were leaking making the module wet and if we fixed the leaks and dried it out it should work fine again
Fixed the leaks, confirmed that it was staying dry - same problem
Then they tell me the body control module must be fried so I need a new one - they replace that. The problem remains
I took it back to the dealer and said I didn't want the truck back until it was fixed. They claim to have inspected all the wires running in and out of the BCM and can't find any issues. The problem remains
Sorry for the long story
I need this thing to stay locked and the dealer clearly does not know how to fix it. Any suggestions are appreciated
Thanks in advance
Steve
Yes, I've taken the fobs out of the equation as well as have them re-programmed. The only way to keep this thing locked seems to be pulling the door lock fuse and then it is very difficult to get the back doors open!
I'm exploring the exorcism in a different forum
