I have a 66mm turbo and I see about 40-45lbs of boost. I was wondering if I need head studs, main studs, and rod studs? or anything else I may need with this much boost?
You're really pushing your luck IMO! I wouldn't be running those kinds of pressures without studs, springs and pushrods. Not in a truck that I relied upon anyway.
^^ Agreed. Stage 2's and a stock turbo mean that turbo won't be alive long. 30 PSI is about the most you should push the stock turbo if you expect it to last.
Who would do that (**cough --TODD--**)!? Oh, wait..... Never mind......lol
Stock turbo went out about a week after I put the stage two's in lol, I raced my buddys 07 cummins and it went out doin about 100mph goin down the highway. I beat him though lol. I now have the turbo thruster 2. What springs do you recomend?
I don't think most guys do main studs and rod studs until you're over 500 HP, which you won't be with Stage 2's.
I say the push rods are a toss-up because there are several different brands that different folks use. Smith Brothers is probably what I would do if it were me, but that's just because that is what Riffraff sells.
500 RWHP. And there are guys running A LOT more than that (a couple approaching the 1k mark) on a stock bottom end. The bottom end on these engines are STOUT! It's just that the stock springs were never meant to keep the valves from floating at those pressures and the cylinder pressures are a lot higher than the stock bolts and gaskets were designed for. Adding studs, springs and rods just beefs up the top end to take the abuse a lot better.
Do I need better head gaskets then stock? And just a curious queston what will happen if I just put head studs in? what would it do to the stock springs?

I read an article that this guy after 100K took his springs off and they tested at 70lbs and stock is 100lbs. The comp springs are 130lbs if the height is set right with shims. The stock head gaskets are fine as long as you put them in one at a time.
