I have a '04 F-250 SD 6.0L Automatic 4x4 I think with the torq shift trans. and I can't get the reverse lights to work. Also just in case it's related my back up sensors don't work. I don't get any sort of beeping nor does the parking sensor switch off when i put it in reverse, unless i turn it off myself. I checked the relay, fuse, and bulbs and all are good. What am I missing? Thanks guys.
For the reverse lights -
Check fuses and relays (remove, inspect, replace)
Check bulbs (remove, inspect, replace)
Check sockets to see if there is power
Check reverse switch
Run the wire harness to the point where you find the plug (under the truck) disconnect the plug, clean, inspect, apply Fluid Film or dielectric grease, reconnect
For the back up sensors -
Check fuses and relays (remove, inspect, replace)
Check connections
Check plug under bumper (driver's side)(disconnect, clean and inspect, add Fluid Film or dielectric grease)
Inspect each sensor for broken lens or gunk on lens
Set brake, have helper put truck in revrse with key on, listen to each sensor, it should buzz or hum.
Okay so I checked everything and this is what came up:
In park the reverse lights show around .5 ohms and in reverse it's around 1.8 ohms. Also I can't check the transmission range sensor since it's internal, or at least I don't know how that process works...
I would like to apologize, apparently I replaced the old relay with a new relay that was bad. Replaced the relay again and both systems work again. Thanks for the help though pbeering!
