How much weight

I was wondering if anyone knows how much weight I can safely Haul in the back of my Truck at highway speeds 1985 f-250 6.9 turbo T-19 with 5 overload spring's, I need to go to Town and buy a pallet of portland approx 3,500 lbs and did'nt want to have to drag my trailer. Thank's for any input.

I think you'll find that it puts you over the rear gross axle rating for the rear on a single wheel...

I suggest either take your trailer, or make two trips...

The most Iv ever heard of haulin around here is a ton and a half, which is about what yours weigh. At that point, the overloads are sitting on the pearches and the tires are starting to flatten out... If you had a duallie with E-rated tires, Id say go for it. Otherwise.... I wouldn't on the highway

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I know a guy that runs 20 miles a day with a hrydra bed truck and two hay bales on the back on load range D tires. With is close to the same weight you are talking about. I wouldn't want to leave that much weight on it over night, but just hauling it home shouldn't hurt any thing.

I fill the bed of my truck higher than the cab with alfalfa. I've had 24ea 100# bales in it and it handled it just fine. It wasn't really squatting either. As far as I can tell, I don't have any special springs. It's a Ford, not a Chevy.

Id fill my truck to the brim with stuff and haul it. I just wouldn't do it at highway speeds. Remember: the more you flatten out your tires with weight, the more they'll heat up. Have a blow out at highway speeds and youll be picking up your load twice... and putting it on the back of a rollback.

How far is your drive gonna be? I had 2 yards of 3/4 RCA in the bed and went about 15 miles about 5 on the highway (60 MPH) had no problems.

(Truck is on a hill here nose is facing down hill)

I should say that hualing scrap matal, when the springs were straight I had a good load on. My haul was 115 miles one way. In two years I did screw-up my rear springs they got weaker. I had to swap them out for one ton springs.
