Stinky's Stick-up

If it's releasing before the cup will move, torque that tool in harder - 20ft lbs or more. Sounds like you're not over engaging it to me. Maybe a tap or two on it as you're trying to engage it like JT250 said. A couple of my cups did the same thing until i reefed on it to get a full turn or two. Arrow on the tool pointed towards the valve springs right? Might affect the angle of engagement - I dont know.

He was using a different style removing tool. It was more like a tap than the RDP tool, and I believe it actually bottoms out in the cup. I had a couple that I really had to bow up on, and that's saying a lot. I'd estimate 120ft-lbs on one of the rascals. And it didn't go in smooth, it was very squeaky and very jerky threading it in. Took some force.

The one I built actually uses a 1"tap with the end cut of so it doesn't bottom out before it bites. Clay doesn't like that style because it creates too many shavings. However you can drop a penny over the hole before you insert the tool to block the shaving.gs from dropping in the cylinder. But even if they did drop.down there you could vacuum them.out.
RICH I promise one like mine would get it out. You a decent fabricator?

wow -120ft lbs. i'm not a good judge of force, but I remember it being significant on a couple of them.
The cool thing to look forward to is, when you have to go back under the covers the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th time because one or more cups did not seal, they pull much easier.

That's the answer to the question that was plaguing me: What size tap? I can get the tap and hack the end off with a skinny wheel. I'll nose around the shop for some scraps that can make the top half. I'm trying to stay focused, but I'm growing battle-weary. I have brand new injectors sitting in a box on the bench after buying reman sticks, new intake plenums, new turbo, new bolts, new sensors, fuel mods, T500, two chips, yadda-yadda-yadda. I want that cup out so I can move on to the second of eight cups, then get back to driving a diesel.

Ryan gave me full credit on them... I just had to pay the difference. I'm glad I have him as a vendor, his customer support is as good as it gets. It's not his fault I'm a schmuck with bad luck and a tired truck.

That is funny. a little pressure cant hurt (so to speak), but it's likely a fraction of what's needed. It would make a cool sound when it did break loose. Riffraff's tool would catch it.
Darn it, Tugly, I wish one of us was nearby to take a crack at it. It's got to be a confidence problem. Once you crack one free, it's a walk in the park! I'll be in Wenatchee mid April if you can wait...
