LT tires

I have always had a F250 due to towing my TT. But lately we havent had time to do many trips. We have just been taking short weekend trips around Michigan. I could not justify such a big truck any more. I went with a 13 Lariot Eco CC and love it. My question is I think I will have to put LT tires on it and air bags. My hitch weight is 1200# due to a front slideout. I LOVE the ride of this truck. What is a good tite to go with that wont kill my ride and MPG's? I have 20" wheels which seems to kill my options.

Congrats on the new truck! it all depends on what type of driving you will do and how heavy that trailer is. Here is an all season tire some here on the board like (and what I will probably purchase for my truck when I get it):

The M/S2 is not available in LT ratings in the 20" wheel size...I have 275/60/20 and they are P-metric.
If you want something with LT ratings, look into the 285/55/20 BFG All Terrain K/O or try to find a P-metric with and XL load rating - I think Toyo and Nitto have it. Sadly, the 20" wheel is the limiting factor here, as the 18" wheel size would allow your search to be expanded a little more. Once you upsize to a 275/65/20 (require's a 2" leveling kit) you'll find that LT ratings are more prevalent.

I've got a set of Airlft bags on mine, I like them, and they helped with my perceived sway. I also have a 1" Daystar spacer on the front, and keep the bags inflated to 20# to maintain the factory rake. I also upgraded to LT275/70/18/E Goodyear silent Armours. I like them as well, but haven't hooked my trailer even yet to see if the remainder of my problem is gone, I suspect it will be though with the stiffer sidewalls. One problem you're likely to encounter with heavier tires is that tire pressure monitor. You'll be pumping the pressure up with the LT's, and that's going to bring in a tire pressure alarm. I've left mine at the 35# pressure when not towing. It's been said that the monitors can be reset/replaced with higher pressure settings, but if you lower the pressures when not towing, the alarm comes back. I can't get an answer about a pressure range setting that would not "warn" me when going to 70#, then back down to 35# when not towing. It's another one of those things that "our" gubbermint mandated on lighter vehicles to prevent awarding Darwin prizes each year from not checking your tire pressures.
Personally, I'd like to rid myself of the monitor system altogether, by putting in the normal valve stems, I think that's where the transmitters are, but I don't know what that will do to the onboard computer stuff.

I also haven't checked if the Silentarmours come in 20" wheel size, but I don't think you'd go wrong getting them if they do.

Thank you those are all the same as I found. I have never owned the BFG AT's
. How is the ride? I really dont want to kill the ride but know I might not have a choice.

LT rated tires are going to transmit a bit more road feedback up into the truck. Pavement separations, potholes, etc will be more noticeable with the LT tires as compared to the P-metric tires due to the extra sidewall stiffness of the LT's. The perceived "harshness in ride" is up to you, as some people appreciate the extra feedback.

I run P series extra load rating on 18's on my 04 that I frequently tow a tractor with. My cousin runs them on 20's on his 06 that he constantly uses to haul off scrap vehicles and also tows a tractor. Neither of us have had issues. Just be sure to look at the weight rating.

I run the BFG all terrains on my truck. I get a bit more road noise from them but overall they work really well for what I do.

Well I am getting the BFG's put on this morning. I will let you know what I think. I have to head up into the thumb area tomorrow so I should have a good idea after that. I did not Lady Fitz thank you. I guess that is something else i will have to look into. I thought we had a class 4 hitch?

The thumb area doesn't have much snow to check them out that way. Comeon up to Atlanta, you can find out what it takes to stick it them.

It does have a firmer ride. But seems nice in the turns, which makes sence.
