I've changed 2 out of the 8 coil packs on my V-8 in the 4 years I've owned my truck, and just the other day the service engine light came on unexpectedly. Occasional rough running IF I get on the gas too hard, but if I baby it, no real issue. I took it to Autozone today and they found a P1131 code which came back as O2 sensor(s), but doesn't rule out a fuel injection problem or a vaccum issue.
IS there a way for ME to determine which of the 2 O2 sensors it IS, or if it's neither without having to pay a dealer to go thru the whole "plug it in and play with it" routine or is there a simple, reasonable way for me to do it without their $120 just to tell me what's wrong? Or is it REALLY worth the $120 to let a dealer do that? I assume that's strictly a plug-it-in fee and not a thing above it.
I just got back from Autozone 10 mins ago, my 02 V6 F150 engine light came on and they scanned a P1131 code. Misfire on Bank 1 only.
They went on to say that it might be a bad vacuum line but couldnt pinpoint where. They suggested spraying starter fluid at different vacuum line connections with engine running. If engine idle goes up then I've found it. Problem is I don't know where all the vacuum lines are. I am looking on-line for a schematic of vacuum lines.
